I grew up in Orange County encompassing the childhood dream of becoming a teacher. Each year in school, this dream grew into a passion. In junior high, my favorite subject was declared to be English, with History not far behind. In high school, I chose to take AP classes in Literature, Language, Government, and European History.

I obtained my BA in English from Vanguard University in 2008 and earned my single subject Teaching Credential in English in 2010 from VU.

Since high school, I have been tutoring students in English, Writing, Algebra, Spanish, and Study Skills. I was a substitute teacher at Calvary Chapel Schools in junior high and high school classes. During college, I was a teacher’s assistant and aided students in the writing center. I also recently started teaching at the Sylvan Learning Center this last spring, instructing in some math, but mostly reading and writing skills to children of various ages. I just celebrated my first wedding anniversary with my high school sweetheart, Daryl, this last summer. He is studying graphic design.

My main drive while teaching is showing students how important critical thinking and writing skills are, in whatever career they pursue in the future. It will help them in college, their personal lives, and countless jobs in their adulthood. While a subject’s content is important, I want to provide them with the skills beyond the content that will benefit them outside of the classroom.

I am so excited to continue this wonderful journey of impacting students here at the HomeSchool Campus of OC.
